Inaugural MAGIC Event Ignites Business of Fashion in the Magic City

Renowned organizers of wholesale fashion events, Informa Markets Fashion, ventured to South Florida to unveil their first-ever MAGIC Miami at the Miami Convention Center on January 8th and 9th. The two-day extravaganza brought together fashion buyers and sellers from around the world with a curated selection of immediate items for quick replenishments and pre-order choices for the summer, in addition to engaging networking opportunities, entertainment, and happy hours.
Thanks to Informa Markets Fashion, the powerhouse behind Project, Coterie, and Sourcing at MAGIC, Miami has emerged as the latest market offering enhanced accessibility for retailers and manufacturers. This new show emerged in response to industry demand and potential in the region, offering participants a gateway to break into new markets. The initiative gained significance, particularly in light of burgeoning sales in secondary cities like Nashville, Tennessee. In a statement, Kelly Helfman, President of Informa Markets Fashion, shared her enthusiasm. She cited market research, customer feedback, and data insights that underscore the Southeast region’s robust potential as a host for this intermediary event.
Attendees indulged in an abundance of resources across categories such as trend, young contemporary, contemporary, and modern sportswear. The event also showcased resources for footwear, accessories, home, gifts, and beauty, featuring prominent brands like Little Words Project, D’Amelio Footwear, Mod Ref, Skies are Blue, Elan, Wishlist, Fate, Emory Park, and Staccato, among others. Notably, the D’Amelio booth drew considerable attention, capitalizing on the social media prowess of its co-founders, Charli and Dixie D’Amelio.
Over the past six months, Miami has been steadily gaining ground among fashion retailers. In the Spring, Ralph Lauren debuted a concept store in the Miami Design District, followed by the opening of a Dior Men unit earlier in the summer. Relative newcomers to the city’s retail scene included Kith, Ami Paris, and Acne Studios. Expanding its footprint, Michael Kors opened a lifestyle store at the Aventura Mall, just outside of Miami, and Staud reportedly secured a lease for a new location in Bal Harbour Shops. The recent development of DJ Khaled and Snipes’ concept store further testifies to Miami’s dynamic, ever-evolving fashion landscape, affirming its status as a captivating and inspiring destination for both locals and tourists alike.
